Hi Book Buddies,
I’m back, just like I promised. Tsavo finished her nap and she told me she is ready to listen to me read a story to her.
Tsavo says this looks like the dog park. Dogs everywhere. Sometimes she goes to Green Lake to walk. There are lots of dogs there, too.
Tsavo is a very friendly puppy. She likes to jump and play with EVERYONE! But, not every doggy wants to play. Sometimes they want to protect their owner. Like the story says, ask permission first before you get too close to a new doggy.
Be sure to curl your fingers under when you greet a new doggy. Let the doggy sniff you first. Then the doggy will know if you are friendly.
It is very important to pet the new doggy on his chin or chest and not the top of his head. See, like I’m doing to Tsavo. Sshhh … I think she’s getting sleepy again.
Uh oh! She’s awake again. She must smell the treats I have for her. Before I feed her a treat I make sure my paw is open all the way to make a plate, like it says in the book. Tsavo knows to wait until I tell her it is okay to take her treat.
Tsavo is a really good puppy. She has been trained A LOT. But not all doggies get to have private training lessons. Remember these rules and you will be safe around new doggies.
I hope you like the story so far. My favorite parts are the rhyming parts. Oh, and I really like the bright pictures. What is your favorite part?
Come back later this week when Tsavo and I finish reading, Don’t Lick the Dog. If you want to know more about the author, you can ask an adult to go to her website address: http://www.wendywahman.com
