Sleepy Bear Reads MORE Junie B. Jones

Hi Book Buddies,

I just read the part about how Junie B. learned about smelling from a dog.  I have a text-to-life connection!  I learned about smelling from Tsavo, my book buddy puppy!  Tsavo can smell hot cocoa even before I can!  She has a super good nose.

Junie B. likes to eat fish.  I sometimes eat fish.  Do you like to eat fish?

Uh, oh!  The janitor almost found Junie B.!  My prediction was almost right.  But now I wonder what will happen next?

I am about to start reading chapter 8.  It is called The Dangerous Nurses Office.  I bet Junie B. goes to the nurse’s office.  I think my book buddy, Aiyah’s prediction is going to be right.

Check back later and find out what happens next!

Sleepy Bear Reads With His Puppy Book Buddy

Hi Book Buddies,

Look who is reading with me today.  Her name is Tsavo.  The “T” is silent.  Do you know what that means?  She is a Rhodesian Ridgeback.

Sleepy Bear Reads With Tsavo

We are both soaking up the sunshine from inside the house.

I decided not to have hot cocoa with goo gobs of whippy cream.  I think Tsavo might want to drink it!  Kathleen told me chocolate is not good for doggies.

Today I read about Junie B. Jones and her secret hiding place in the classroom.  She did not want to ride the stupid smelly bus home and have chocolate milk poured on her head.  Do you remember where Junie B.’s secret hiding place is?

I am starting chapter 7 and I have a prediction.  I predict the janitor will find Junie B. and call her mother to come and get her.

Check back later and I will tell you if my prediction is right.  Oh, I almost forgot.  Moosey-Moose said he needs help with his bird feeders.  Maybe you can help him.

Sleepy Bear.

Sleepy Bear Answers His Mail

Hi Book Buddies,

One of my new book buddies from Mrs. A’s room wrote to me.  Her name is Aiyah.  Hi, Aiyah!  Thank you for writing to me.

I don’t know the name of Junie B.’s worst enemy.  I’m only on chapter 5.  I will write back to you when I find out.  I want to go outside and read in the sunshine today.

I went to the library yesterday.  I went to the one in downtown Seattle.  It is super big!  I met a lot of new friends there, too.

I wish I could have seen your butterflies take off!   Moosey-Moose would have liked that, too.  He likes to feed the birds in our backyard.  That reminds me, I need to ask him if he has given them new bird seed yet.

Aiyah, I’m glad you like the bookmarks.  I hope you write again soon.  Have a great day at school.

Oh, I almost forgot.  You call your classroom Room 249.  That is almost like Junie B.’s name for her classroom!  I can’t wait to visit you at your school.

Sleepy Bear Reads More Junie B. Jones

Hi Book Buddies,

I am really liking Junie B. Jones.  She is a girl who my reading and writing teacher, Kathleen, would call spunky.  I don’t think I’m spunky.  But, I think Moosey-Moose is spunky.  I think I just like saying that word, SPUNKY SPUNKY SPUNKY!!

Ok, back to the book.  I have a question for my book buddies in Mrs. A’s classroom.  Does your classroom have a name like Junie B’s?  Oh, do you remember what her classroom is called?

Junie B - Day 2

I learned a new word.  Well another word besides spunky.  It is on page 19 and the word is soiled.  I think it means dirty because if someone stepped on her skirt then it would get dirty.

Oh, another reason why I like Junie B. is because she likes to read books and she said books are her very favorite things in the whole wide world.

Sleepy Bear Answers His Mail

Hi Book Buddies,

My friends in Mrs. A.’s second grade class wrote to me so I’m going to answer all their questions.

I would love to visit you in your classroom!  I visited another elementary school all the way up north in Bellingham.  That was super fun!  I met a lot of new book buddies, too.

I like to sleep,  A LOT!  I guess that is why my name is Sleepy Bear.  But sometimes I sleep too much and I miss doing more fun things.

Uh oh!  You gave me a test question about JUNIE B. JONES AND THE STUPID SMELLY BUS.  I think Junie B. calls her teacher Mrs.  I don’t know who is her best friend.  I’ll find out today when I read some more.  Today is the first day of spring so I’m going to sit outside and read and watch Moosey-Moose get his bird feeders ready for his bird friends.

Sleepy Bear Reads a Junie B. Jones Book

Hi Book Buddies,

I’m reading a new book.  It was recommended to me by my new book buddies in Mrs. A.’s second grade class.

Stupid Smelly Bus - Day 1

I’m reading the first book in the series.  It is called JUNIE B. JONES AND THE STUPID SMELLY BUS, by Barbara Park

I read the first chapter already.  Junie B. is not shy at all!  I am very shy.  I wonder if Junie B. and I would be friends if I went to school with her.

Junie B. got really mad when the teacher and her mom did not tell her about the bus and where it was going.  I would be mad, too.  But maybe Junie B. could be more patient.  What do you think?

I’m going to read more tonight. Today is the perfect day to sit inside and drink hot cocoa with goo-gobs of whippy cream.  Junie B. Jones is just the kind of friend I like on cloudy days, too.  She’s spunky!  Oh, I know someone else who might like Junie B. Jones.  Moosey-Moose!  I’m going to go find him right now and ask him to join me.  Check back later and I’ll tell you more about Junie B.

Sleepy Bear Answers His Mail

Good morning, Book Buddies,

I got a note from Mrs. A.  Well, uuhhhm,  I have not read Junie B. Jones.  But, Mrs. Hunter, my reading and writing teacher has students who have read those books.  Her students like them a lot!  Maybe I should read one.  I have an idea.  Maybe your students can recommend one to me.

Write again soon.
