Sleepy Bear Solves the Monster Under His Bed Mystery–With Junie B.

Hi Book Buddies,

There's a Monster Under My Bed

Today was one of those wintery days – again!  It is a good thing I like to sit in front of the fireplace, drink hot cocoa with goo-gobs of whippy cream and read a good book!

I tried to make a smiley face with the chocolate syrup, but it melted super fast.  Oh well, it will still taste yummy in my tummy.

One of my Book Buddies in Mrs. A.’s class asked me if Junie B. asked a friend for help.  Yes, she did.  She asked Lucille, William, and Grace to help her believe monsters were not under her bed.  But they didn’t help her feel better at all.  They even made her feel worse.

Junie B. has a good idea to sleep with all her friends like Raggedy Ruth and Raggedy Andy.  I like to sleep with my friends, too.  Moosey-Moose sometimes sleeps in my room.  I also have a Teddy Bear who sleeps with me.  His name is SweePea.  He looks just like me but a LOT smaller.

Junie B. had a good idea about putting scary pictures under her bed to scare the monster away.  I don’t have any scary pictures of me.  Maybe I can put this book under my bed.  Oh, and I can have the book opened to the page with Junie B.’s scary picture!  I think that is one of my bestest ideas ever.  What do you think?  I’ll try it tonight.  Write to me tomorrow and I will tell you if it worked.

Now I need a new book to read.  I’m going to look at the book shelves in Kathleen’s office.  She has hundreds, maybe thousands of books!  If you have a recommendation, let me know, too.

Your Book Buddy,

Sleepy Bear

Sleepy Bear Reads Another Junie B. Jones Book

Hi Book Buddies,

My book buddies in Mrs. A.’s class want me to read another Junie B. Jones book.  I don’t have the second book but I have this one.  I found it at the very back of my book shelf.

Junie B. Jones Has a Monster Under Her Bed - Day 1

It is called, JUNIE B. JONES HAS A MONSTER UNDER HER BED.  I want to read this one because I think I have a monster under my bed, too! Maybe Junie B. can give me ideas about how to get rid of the monster under my bed.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you.  The second book is called JUNIE B. JONES AND A LITTLE MONKEY BUSINESS.  I looked at the list of books inside the cover of the one I am going to read next.

I hope you write back soon.  I like it when my book buddies ask me questions, too!

Your Book Buddy,

Sleepy Bear

Sleepy Bear Answers His Mail

Hi Book Buddies,

Mrs. A.’s class asked me two test questions about the June B. Jones book I just read.

Answer to question number one:  Hmmm, does June B. yell a lot?  Yes!  She has temper tantrums.  At first I thought she was bratty.  Well, I still think she is bratty.  Do you agree?

Answer to question number two:  Yes, June B. does go to the bathroom in the first book.  I was afraid she might not make it to the bathroom and she might have an accident.  That happened to me once.  I was reading a good book and drinking my hot cocoa with goo gobs of whippy cream and then all of a sudden  I had to go to the bathroom.! Lucky for me I was at home so I didn’t have an accident.

I’m going to start reading the second Junie B. Jones book.  If you have read that one, maybe you can ask me  some more test questions.  I like to check how much I understand and remember what I read.  Sometimes, it’s more fun if someone asks me questions, too.

Bye for now,

Sleepy Bear

Sleepy Bear Reads Still MORE Junie B. Jones

Hi Book Buddies,

Junie B. Jones is in a big predicament!  She should not have gone to the nurse’s office to play.  Do you know what she means when she says tangles?  I think she means rectangles but I’m not sure.

I found out the name of Junie B.’s bestest friend.  Her name is Lucille!  My bestest friend is Moosey-Moose.  Who is your bestest friend?

Sleepy Bear Needs a New Book

This was a funny book.  I want to read more Junie B. Jones books except I have a problem.  My reading and writing teacher, Kathleen, is all out.  Do you have any Junie B. Jones books in your classroom library?  Do you have any in your desk?

Maybe I will need to choose something different to read.  I wonder what my friend Thorndyke all the way in Michigan is reading.  Maybe I should ask him, too.

Your Reading Buddy,

Sleepy Bear
