Sleepy Bear Misses His Friends

Hi Friends,

I am looking for the recipe for brownies. There are so many cookbooks! I don't remember which one we used. Now what am I going to do?

I sure miss my friends. Maybe I will take a nap then I will decide.

Your friend,

Sleepy Bear

ps - Natalie, my friends visited me earlier this month in October.
Hi Boys and Girls,

I'm still missing my friends, Bear and Scaredy Pup. They are my friends in San Diego, California. Do you know where that is? Well, they visited me for one whole entire week!!

One of the things we did was bake brownies. They were yummy. Maybe I should make some today. I will go look for the recipe.

Wish me luck.

Sleepy Bear Misses His Friends

Hi Boys and Girls,

I'm feeling lonely today. I really miss my friends from San Diego. We had a lot of fun when they were visiting me. We baked cookies and climbed trees and everything! I think I'm going to cry.

Bye for now,

Sleepy Bear

Hi Fellow Book Club Members!

I hear you will all be getting books for our book club. I am sooo sooo excited. Are you telling all your friends, too?

I hope you had a good day at school. Did you learn a lot?

Today I checked on my flower bulbs. There is a teeny tiny sprout growing. I have my paws crossed that they grow really big.

I'm hungry. I need to go eat a snack. What should I have? Maybe some nuts and fruit?

I'll write again soon.

Sleepy Bear Is Checking In

Hi Boys and Girls,

Thank you for your comments. I had a fabulous day! I got to read and sleep and watch my bulbs grow. I also sat in the sunshine. It was so beautiful.

I really appreciate your encouragement for my garden. Imer, I have planted bulbs for flowers. They are supposed to have 3 little twigs growing out of the middle of the flower. The twigs I will use when I cook. I sure hope they grow like they are supposed to.

Yes, Alondra, this is my house. Well, really it is the porch in the backyard. Next time I will show you pictures of my herbs I grew during the summer.

I am glad most of you will join my book club. Giselle and Natalie, tell your school librarian I said "thank you" for getting extra copies of The Tiger Rising. I think we will have a lot of fun.

It is waaaay past my sleepy time so I must go now.

Sleepy Bear

Sleepy Bear Tries to Grow Plants

Hi Boys and Girls,

A few weeks ago my friends from San Diego came to visit me. We planted some bulbs to grow flowers. Do you know what bulbs are? If you don't, that's OK. I can tell you. They are like really big seeds that you plant in the dirt. Well, we planted them but I'm a little worried that we did something wrong because they are not growing yet. I even used my brightest flashlight to help me find the flowers. I'll keep checking. And, I'll keep my paws crossed and hope they grow.
I like to work in the garden. How about you? Do you like to plant seeds in the dirt and watch them grow?

I'll write to you again soon. Wish me luck with my bulbs!

Sleepy Bear's Book Club -

Hi Boys and Girls,

Thank you sooo much for your blog comments. I really like getting messages from you. I will try to answer everyone's questions.

Nope, no girlfriend for me. I'm waaaaay too young for that. Maybe when I'm 50 years old. Of course, I would love to be friends with each of you. You all sound like very nice kids and you like to read! Zeena, thank you for your encouragement about me starting a book club. I am very excited about it, too. I got the idea from grown ups I know who are in book clubs. It looks like fun so I thought I would try it out.

Trying to decide on a book to read for the book club has been really, really, really, hard for me. There are sooo many great books to read, and not enough time. But, I need to start somewhere. How about we start with a short book for our first one? Would you like that? I think I would like to read The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo. Can you each get a copy of the book so we can talk about it on my blog? I think that would be really cool and lots of fun. I can't wait to get started! Let me know.

Well, I need to go now. I'm feeling a little sleepy. Write back soon.

Your friend,

Sleepy Bear
