Sleepy Bear Answers His Mail

Hi Book Buddies and Friends,

I'm finally getting around to answering my mail. I've been busy perusing the book shelves for a new story to read.

Isau suggested I read THE MIRACULOUS JOURNEY OF EDWARD TULANE. I agree it is a wonderful book and I'm happy that Isau makes movies in her head when she reads. But I read that book already and I really want to read something new. Maybe the new book by the same author called THE MAGICIAN'S ELEPHANT. What do you think?

Grace, yes, I did get the notepad you made for me and I love it! I will use it when I start my next book. It is a very clever notepad, too. I want to know more about the book you wrote.

Steven, I have never played the computer game Roblox. In fact, I have never even heard of it. OK, well, to tell you the truth, I don't play computer games. I know lots of kids play them but I would much rather read a book or play a board game like SCRABBLE! Or MONOPOLY. Do you like to play board games?

I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving tomorrow has a wonderful day. And for everyone else, have a wonderful day, too!

Thanks for writing to me. I really enjoy reading your comments to me.

Bye for now,

Sleepy Bear

Sleepy Bear's Book Club - STUART LITTLE

Hi Book Buddies!

Guess what? I finally finished reading STUART LITTLE. I really enjoyed the story. Did you? Stuart reminded me a little bit of Moosey-Moose. They both like adventures. I wonder if he ever finds his bird friend. I hope so. I wonder if there is another book that continues the story.

One of my favorite parts was when Stuart was sailing the boat in Central Park. I've never been on a boat before. It sounds like fun.

Well, I don't know what book to read next. Do you have any suggestions? I could read the new one by Kate DiCamillo called THE MAGICIAN'S ELEPHANT. What do you think?

Oh, maybe you can help me with something. I'm trying to get Moosey-Moose to read more books. What can I do to encourage him?

I can't wait to hear from you and all your book suggestions to read next.

Your book buddy,

Sleepy Bear

Sleepy Bear's Book Club - STUART LITTLE

Hi Book Buddies,

I hope you are enjoying STUART LITTLE. Stuart had a very exciting adventure in chapter 7! I learned two new words. One is flotsam on page 41 and the other word is ominous on page 41. If you look up the words in the dictionary and tell me the correct meaning then I will send you one of my bookmarks! You have to be one of the first five people to reply.

Do you know what tapioca pudding is? Stuart's mother made him some. I wonder what it's like. Maybe I should try to make some!

Let's read chapters 10, 11, and 12 for next Tuesday. How does that sound?

Bye for now,

Sleepy Bear

Sleepy Bear's Book Club - STUART LITTLE

Hello Book Buddies,

Oh boy! Stuart Little sure got himself into a predicament this time when he got stuck in the window blinds. Well, part of it was Snowball's fault. Snowball reminded me of Moosey-Moose because Moosey-Moose likes to play tricks on other people. I don't think Snowball likes Stuart. I think Snowball feels threatened by Stuart because Snowball used to be the only critter who lived with the Little family. What do you think?

I wrote down some new sticky note words, too. The first one is tartly on page 30. It means a sharp or bitter comment. Sometimes it means a food is tart like a blueberry pie without enough sugar in it. Yuck!

My second sticky note word is sloop on page 33, which means a one masted ship, which means a boat with only one sail. WOW! This is fun, learning new words.

How about we read chapters 7, 8, and 9 this week? I think we can do that. Don't forget to write sticky notes for all the tricky words and then we can share them.

Your Book Buddy,

Sleepy Bear

Sleepy Bear Answers His Mail

Hi Friends,

Wow! I have a lot of mail to answer.

Grace, thanks for letting me know what violet water is. I checked with Kathleen and she says you are right!

I have not read the book GILLY HOPKINS. But maybe I will because my friends tell me it is a super good book. Why is it so good?

Moosey-Moose started to learn how to read last year. But, he gave up before he got to chapter books. Maybe if we all encourage him, he'll try again!

Yes, I love Christmas and snow. That is my most favorite time of the year. Hey! I just looked at the calendar. It's almost winter time again! I can't wait. I hope I get to make snowmen and snow angels again.

Well, I'm going to go read some more STUART LITTLE so I can blog about it tomorrow.

Your friend,

Sleepy Bear
